The freelance or self-employed are the natural person who is dedicated to working for someone else, for remuneration without having any employment contract that makes him work for the employer.
They are also called sole proprietorship or freelancers.
To achieve autonomy you must be of legal age, or if you are a minor, you must at least be emancipated.
The characteristics they have are that when they perform a job, she is responsible for the social security contributions.
In addition, to be such, they must be registered in the “Special scheme for self-employed workers”.
Currently in Spain we have 3,266,258 freelancers, although due to the crisis caused by Covid 19, some 150,000 are discharged.
As we have mentioned, to be autonomous, you must complete some procedures in Social Security.
Types of freelancers
Depending on the characteristics of their activities, individual operators can be divided into :
- Professionals or freelancers
- Dependents (TRADE)
Other types of self-employed: Collaborators, partners of property communities and civil partnerships, worker partners of cooperatives that are listed under the self-employed regime and industrial partners of regular partnerships and limited partnerships.
The fee to pay for being self-employed
Self-employment contributions are social security payments that all self-employed workers must pay each month.

The alternative to being autonomous and billing for someone else is to have a commercial company.
